The 2015 GMC Yukon has all new sheet metal, new features, and more powerful direct injected engines. See this crisp new full-size SUV at Gainesville Buick GMC, just a short drive from the communities of Palatka, Lake City, Newberry, or Ocala, in lovely Gainesville, FL.
Ford’s 2015 Expedition also features a new powerplant, but otherwise there isn’t much new about it.
In the latest update, Ford replaced the V8 power in the Expedition with a turbo 3.5-liter V6. The Yukon offers you the choice of a 5.3-liter direct injected V8 with 355hp, or a 6.0-liter in the Yukon Denali making 420hp. Those numbers are 10 less, and 55 more than the Ford’s 365hp. And base the GMC V8 gets better 1 better mpg on the highway than the Ford as well, and the same in the city.
These are both big SUVs, but only the Yukon can seat 9, with the optional front split bench seat. That front row gets 3 inches more head room, and 4 inches more legroom than the Expedition too. GMC gives you more shoulder room all the way back, and more hip room in the first 2 rows as well. The surprise is that the Yukon can do this and have a shorter wheelbase and overall length, so it feels smaller from behind the wheel.
Every Yukon comes with the new OnStar system with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, and the 8” touchscreen based IntelliLink system with smartphone apps and voice commands. The Ford Sync system can do some of that, like text to speech, and voice controls, but even the optional MyFord Touch system doesn’t have the full features GMC includes standard. The Yukon also offers the vibrating Safety Alert Seat which warns you about blind-spot intrusions, forward collisions, lane departure, and more.
The 2015 GMC Yukon is one of the best family vehicles for a big family, or towing a trailer, and if you need more room, it comes in an XL size as well.
