The 2015 GMC Savana Cutaway is the perfect base for many applications including box vans, ambulances, shuttle buses, and RVs. Come talk to the knowledgeable staff at Gainesville Buick GMC, and let them show you all the available 3rd party bodies that can be fitted to the Savana chassis. Our Showroom is in Gainesville, and easy to get to from Newberry, Ocala, Palatka, or Lake City, FL.
The Ram ProMaster is based on a front wheel drive European design, and just doesn’t offer the real truck capabilities of the Savana.
The only engines available in the Savana are stout V8 options, in 4.8- and 6.0-liter gas powered, or 6.6-liter diesel. The ProMaster offers you a 3.6-liter 280hp V6 with just 260 lb-ft of torque, or a turbodiesel 3.0-liter 174hp 4 cylinder with 295 lb-ft. Even the base 4.8-liter has 33lb-ft more torque than the ProMaster V6. Go with the diesel and the Savana’s 6.6-liter has 260hp and 525 lb-ft, 230 more than the Ram.
That lack of torque and its front wheel drive powertrain is the reason the ProMaster has a tow rating so much lower than the Savana. With the factory tow package, a Savana can tow up to 10,000lbs, almost twice the ProMaster’s 5,100lb rating.
Commercial vehicles and RVs rack up a lot of miles and typically cost more for routine maintenance. GMC gives you 2 years or 24k miles of free scheduled maintenance on all of their vehicles, even commercial vans, at any GMC dealer. The Ram ProMaster doesn’t offer any sort of maintenance coverage. If you use your truck a lot, even routine maintenance can add up to several thousand dollars over the course of a few years, and GMC takes care of it for you.
